1. General information about Harrow Little Lions

Harrow Little Lions Childhood Development is authorised by Harrow School in the UK, operated and managed by Asia International School Limited, under the vertical supervision of Harrow School in the UK. Harrow Little Lions provides quality international education for children born locally or abroad between the age of 2 and 6 years old.

The first two Harrow Little Lions Childhood Developments are located in Shanghai and Chongqing, to be officially opened in February 2019.

Location of Shanghai Harrow Little Lions: Building No. 2, Middle Ring Sen lan International, 1088 Zhouhai Rd, Pudong Xinqu, Shanghai Shi, China (12 classes, 2600 square meters GFA)

2. What are the characteristics and advantages of Harrow Little Lions' curriculum setting?

Harrow Little Lions shares the same educational philosophy and values as the Harrow International Schools and has a unique British culture and DNA. Harrow International Schools have been deeply rooted in Asia for more than two decades and  have established Early Year Centres, primary schools and upper schools in Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Built on the strong foundation of Harrow International Schools, the educational philosophy and curriculum of the Harrow Little Lions  has incorporated the strength of both Chinese and Western languages, culture, rituals, and general knowledge, laying a strong foundation for Harrow Little Lions’ graduates to enter reputable local and overseas primary schools.

Harrow Little Lions adopts the British National Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and our curriculum is guided by the  “Kindergarten Education Guidance Outline” issued by the Ministry of Education to create a set of integrated curriculum systems and programs that are most suitable for the development of children in China; to cultivate the language, culture and general Knowledge of the children. Our curriculum also stresses  behaviour, conversational abilities and temperament.
3. What is a school day like at Harrow Little Lions?

School starts at 8:30 every morning. The learning context is evenly distributed from morning to afternoon to ensure daily learning is substantial and meaningful for young children.

4. Teachers’ Qualifications

Our Teachers are experienced in teaching young children, with  at least 3 years of relevant work experience. They are all university graduates with a  Bachelor’s degree or above, and a focus in Early Year Education. They are all qualified Teachers with the relevant Professional  certificates.

Our administrative staff are also recruited carefully. They all obtained professional Qualitiations as required for their job.

Our Western teachers are all native English speakers  who come from different parts of the world. Chinese teachers are proficient in both Chinese and English  language.

5. How do class teachers teach and take care of children?

We adopt bilingual teaching (Putonghua and English) in small class size. Western teachers are responsible  for conducting daily teaching while our Chinese teachers are responsible for formulating programmes,  providing Chinese  cultural programmes and communicate with parents, on top of daily teaching.

Each class is supported by an Assistant Class Teacher. We also have a Child Care Assistant who provides additional care and support for the children and maintains the hygiene and safety in each classroom.

6. Harrow Little Lions' linkage with Primary School

Harrow Little Lions’ graduates from Shanghai with foreign nationalities will have priority arrangement for admissions interviews at Harrow International School Shanghai. Locally born students can apply for local bilingual or public schools where Harrow Little Lions has close connections with  the community. Our EYC-Primary School Pathway programme also ensures students’ smooth transition to the local schools they prefer.

Harrow Little Lions’ graduates in Chongqing will have priority in admission interview arrangement at Harrow Innovation Leadership Academy Chongqing, operated by Asia International School Limited.

Living and Service Q&As:

1. How do parents get to know the learning progress of their child?
Parents can learn about their child’s school life through Parents’ meetings, Open Days, Classroom visits, Tapestry – an online communication and assessment tool, newsletters and our website.  The management of Harrow Little Lions is very transparent, systematic and standardised. Parents will be able to communicate with our teaching staff on a regular basis.
2. What is the class time and pick-up time?

Arrival time is from 8:00 am – 8:25 am. Pick up time is between 16:15 – 16:30.

3. Meal Arrangements

Our menus are planned and prepared by Health and Catering professionals. The menu changes every week to provide a nutritious and balanced diet. We provide lunch meal, morning and afternoon snacks.

Application for Admissions Q&As:

1. Admissions Policy

We provide education programmes in four levels: C1  for 2-3 years old, C2 for 3-4 years old, C3 for 4-5 years old and C4 for 5-6 years old. The age cut-off date for admission is calculated based on the birth month before August 31st.

Harrow Little Lions welcomes all eligible children to apply regardless of race, gender and nationality.

2. When should I enrol?
